Google Reader Is Retiring

feedlySo by now you’ve undoubtedly heard that Google Reader is retiring July 1, 2013. I couldn’t believe it when I heard it! I had just promoted it in a recent blog.

One thing we know about life is that things always change.

So if you were a fan of Google Reader, what can you do now? There are several options, the most popular of which seems to be Feedly.

It works in Firefox, Chrome, and Android and, quite frankly, has a much nicer interface than Google Reader did. If you switch before July, you will be able to sync your feeds between Google Reader and Feedly, making it a very smooth transition.

More than just an RSS reader, though, Feedly comes with a built-in “Save for Later” feature and a History function, so you can go back and see what you recently read. It even lets you share items via Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

And when installed on Firefox or Chrome, a light gray feedly icon appears in the lower right corner of the screen if the site you are viewing has a feed.

Pardon me while I go read my feeds.
